Re: Shipping an enginePosted by Steve in N.J. on July 25, 2002 at 19:10:43 from (148.108.1.56): In Reply to: Shipping an engine posted by Vic on July 17, 2002 at 06:18:00: Vic, If your pickup is a Chevy, quite a few dealerships carry or can order you a new crate engine at a pretty reasonable price. A 350 Crate engine around here in Jersey that replaces 1955-79 small blocks can be had for around 1400.00 bucks, and that's with a 1 year warranty. Some dealerships will drop it on your doorstep for a extra charge. I can get a crate engine from Apple Chevrolet located in York, PA delivered for around $50 bucks. And they're 3 hrs away from me! A buddy of mine bought one from them not to long ago for his rack body GMC and I think the whole bill was under $1600.00 bucks, and they dropped it in front of the bay door of his window business! That's the way to fly. Ford offers crate engines also, but they are much more expensive. You pay more for a rebuilt with only a 30-90 day warranty... Drop your intake on it, distributor in it and fire it up! It's somethin' to think about.
