GMC 228 Dipstick

This is for information on a 1950 GMC 228 cid.
Can anyone give me the legnth of the dipstick tube that sticks out of the block, and how far the dipstick goes into the block below the surface. Manual says my engine holds 9-1/2 quarts of oil with filter change, I am reading full with only 6 qurats and system primed.
