Heres the thing, think about how much your motorhome is going to weigh if you use metal strong enough to HANG six feet back and not bounce and hit the ground...
Then you want to HANG 1000# off THAT!!! You'd better have some danged big brakes to start with!

So no, I don't think its a good idea, I don't think its safe. The other guys who talk about the motorhomes towing are right they rarely tow any kind of big weights, they'll only have a class III hitch which is only good for 500# tounge.
I think that backing would be a total nightmare and going forward in any kind of wind assuming everything was strong enough to hold together in the first place you'd get blown all over the road.

I'd definately want a real mech engineer to look this stuff over first, somebody who really knows how to translate the numbers into the real world.
