Hmmm, stop the rust.

1. If it's not stored indoors, figure out how to store it indoors.

2. Move to Arizona. (OK, maybe not).

3. Remove all flaking undercoating, soundproofing, etc., from underside of body. Paint with rust preventative paint. This step is hugely messy and painful, but if you really want to stop the rust, it's the only way to go...clean and paint.

I used to use a zinc farm paint from Agway, but I don't think they make it any longer. Also I've used something called 'Iron Clad Retardo', also probably unavailable these days. Here are some interesting rust inhibitor paints:

If you have time and space, take the body off the frame before you de-rust and paint. It works a lot better, though you run the risk of never finishing the job. (I have an old car in my garage that's been in pieces for several years now. No rust on it, though).
