83 F-250

Posted by Mark A on August 08, 2002 at 13:17:32 from (207.193.225.250):

I have an 83 F-250 with a tired 460 V-8, 4 speed. I am wanting to swap in an engine to get the maximim MPG as possible, on open freeways, and still try to mate up to the 4 speed. I will do very little pulling, as I will use a 94 diesel for that. Any ideas on engine swaps? Diesel?, rotary?, "steam"? I know a ford engine would be easiest. I was wondering about a 4 cylinder diesel out of a tractor or loader, or something. Anybody have any ideas?
