Swapping engines in California is very problematic due to the emissions requirements. I'll have to find other trucks to see the engines. Mine has V belts. Employees of local auto stores have no idea what's been replaced in an alternator with prices ranging from $40 for "Standard" to $130 for "Premium". I think it has a lot to due with marketing with 30 day, 1 year, and Lifetime warranties. New internal regulators are about $25, brushes and bearings are minimal and diodes not available. The internet parts supplier has not said what parts are in the $30 kit. My brushes appear to have little wear so I think the thing was rebuilt before I got it. Slowpoke
