`53 Chevy 3/4 ton

I am having a `53 chev 3/4 truck restored and I am at the point to decide if I want to keep it completlely original or modify. Right now, the only modification that I am looking to make is to update the babbit bearings and put it hardened valve seals (216 engine). The truck would be a weekend driver and will be kept for a long time so resale is really not an issue. Your thoughts?
