Re: 1994 GMC 3500 Dually Opinions NeededPosted by Jon Hagen on February 07, 2007 at 11:49:39 from (69.26.29.184): In Reply to: 1994 GMC 3500 Dually Opinions Needed posted by 1206SWMO on February 07, 2007 at 10:26:33: I have a 92, 3500 EX cab 4X4 454-4L80E trans single wheel 4.10 gears. The engine and trans are powerfull and reliable with any reasonable use. Have had a lot of little problems with electronics and other cab accessories ( wiper mechanism,heater/AC, radio ) In my opinion, the quality is not what it was with earlier models, and the built in high steering effort is a pain. Mine makes 12 mpg with general driving around, 8 mpg with a light trailer, flat running and a light foot is possible. My usual load is quite a bit heavier, but the few times I have run it with a lightly loaded gooseneck trailer was close to your hoped for 8 mpg. That heavy towing package should have engine and trans oil coolers with an extra electric fan up front. Mine will run warm with a load in warm weather, especially with the AC on. Others tell me this is normal for this model,no excess cooling capacity in spite of the big 4 core radiator. Is it worth the asking price ? Thats up to you. I paid that much for mine 3 years ago with more miles on it. My personal opinion is that I would not want a dually big block without 4 wheel drive. A 2 wd dually with that heavy front end is helpless in mud or snow.
