Last year I bought this '83 ford ranger from our neighbor. It had 28,000 actual miles when we bought it. Now has over 43,000. Problem is in cold temperatures the carb gets ice in it. A real pain. I've tryed running with dry gas. I have permanently opened the the valve opperating the heat duct from the manifold. Nothing seems to help. I am told that this was one of the first efforts to control emmissions. That this carb is electrically coordinated with the distributor. The engine is a 2.8 liter V-6. I am considering replacing the carb with something simpler from an older similar displacement engine. Any comments or suggestions welcome.
