Yup, they were supposed to prevent wipers from stopping when you accelerated. They didn't work. I had a 1968 Rambler that I bought new with the six cylinder engine, the same six used in IH pickup trucks, it had the dual stage fuel pump, and the wipers stopped when going up hills, passing, or just accelerating from a stop light. The car cost $1700 new.
