You say the truck is hard to stop. Is it excessive pedal pressure, spongy pedal, bottoming pedal or a combination of the above. You need to work through all the details to get them right. I've read a lot of nasty posts about Loadstar hydraulic brakes. Without exception, the posts are written by frustrated and uninformed individuals. The gripes usually come down to expecting a 30 year old system that has had little or no real maintenance to perform as it was designed to. Once right it's a great braking system. The brakes on my 1970 1800 will launch me through the windshield if I'm not careful. I suggest that you post your question at oldihc.org Go to "truck talk" "loadstar".
