If the speaker is good, and the correct Ohms value for the radio (10 Ohms?), I would guess there's a leaky capacitor or bad transistor in the audio amp section.

Is the Delco sticker still on the radio? It would lead to a SAMS Photofact auto radio manual. I still have SOME, and they're often on ebay.
