Check the MASTER SWITCH which is usually on the floor to the left of the driver's seat. Why Ford put it there is a mystery. But check the switch's position. Listen for the relay's to 'click' in. If the relays make no noise at all then the switch itself is bad and needs to be replaced. The switch also has a tendency to be 'kicked' into the off position because of the location and the turnout gear worn. And remember, due to it's position the switch itself tends to collect every type of crud known to God, to include ROAD SALT !!! It might not be such a bad idea to get under the frame and see if the switch's contacts or cable/connections are showing signs of corrosion of any type. Replacing a $ 20 cable is awhole lot cheaper than a tow to a shop and the resulting repair bill.
