I'll never go back to a gas engine. The 6.2 is a good engine as long as you treat them right. They can be turned up by going through the top plate and turning the screw up, you can go quite a bit, but when you add more fuel you need more air.If you get too much fuel and not enough air, it smokes good but you get fuel wash scaring the cylinder walls. But in any event adding more fuel is bigger fire creating more heat. The chevy diesel is known to heat. That is where the number one problem with the 6.2 comes in once you get them hot they are no good , because most of the time when you get them hot the heads crack even on the 6.5's. Most people think the the red part on the heat gauge means you might want to stop it, but 220 degrees is hot for any chevy engine. I've let mine go to 230 degreese once that is time to pull over!!! Three ton for a 6.2 is nothing. I've pulled 9ton with my 1968 with the 6.2 which is turn up and bored out .040, and have pulled 11 ton with my 1995 gmc 1 ton dually no problem. My father and I run a diesel mechanic shop and are constantly hauling tractors. My father has 3 6.2s and a 6.5 which none have under 200,000 miles. Greg
