I guess I'm not seeing a problem here. These trucks were built to run 55mph not 70mph. At 70mph best have really gone thru the steering and brakes.

The other thing to watch with the 2 speeds is some of them are low and lower gear, i.e. the slow gear is a grunt gear and the high gear no faster than what you have. Be sure to check ratios.

Also you may be able to swap the trans to one with a higher 5th gear.
