I was wondering the same things, but couldn't understand why I should get trapped air in this system, or how a simple centrifugal pump impeller could fail. Felt like the gauge was acurate as this truck has a couple different sending units with a gauge, light and buzzer.

At any rate...I did find the problem...The 1 inch +/- diameter hose from the reservoir tank to the Tee in the lower radiator hose was completely plugged-up. Appearantly someone had thrown the radiator stop leak to her..and it entirely plugged the inside diameter of this rather large hose, for about the length of 7 inches. It looked like wet sawdust...

Cooling system working now.. nice to have that temp back where it should be.. Ed in Va.
