I have an 82 S series IH medium duty. It has the square grill hood. I would like to use a later model 4700 or 8200/8300 hood. My intentions are to put a 290 Cummins in the truck. Currently it is a V8 gas motor. I know the Cummins is about 10" or so longer than a DT 466. If the 8200 hood will fit the S series cab it is about a foot longer. It appears the extra length is in front of the axle. Anyone have any ideas about a later model hood that will work with the cab and give some extra length to allow me to put in the Cummins and move it forward enough to only have about a foot of the motor in the cab with me? Worst case I will sell the semi with the 290 and 10 speed and purchase a DT 466 / 6 speed or 7 speed and put a 4700 hood on it.
