1979 F250(doing an engine swap).Do we need to pull the torque converter with the engine on the 351M or unbolt the flexplate from the torque converter it prior to removal?I just don't want to damage the front seal. Are the torque converter bolts accessible on the 4wd and what size are they 9/16 maybe? Also where are the engine identification numbers located?

The engine in the truck now has 400 cid on the valve cover but I was assured it was a 351m that had the valve covers off the old 400.I have a donor truck with a supposidly 400 in it but the engine compartment was slightly burnt in a wireing fire so there are no stickers identifying for sure what it is.The guy I bought it from told me it was indeed a good running 400 till the fire.I looked at the harmonic balancers to see if there were any difference in them and there was:the supposidly 400 harmonic balancer is thin, like maybe a 1/2 inch thick where the supposidly 351M was about an inch or more thick. Was the 400 harmonic balancer thinner than the 351 M?Thanks for any help.
