You should be able to open it up in the truck without removing the entire axle. Should be able to see whats wrong. The previous post could be right. The problem with replacing the entire axle with a used one is getting a matched gear ratio to what you have on the back differential. Differing gear ratios will give you more problems and give you more things to fix.
