"Still just runs on full choke" and "will idle for hours" (but not run) sounds more like carb problem. Let it idle for 4-5 minutes, kill it, take top off carb. If it's full of gas it's a carb problem. If no/low/little gas (1)be sure float not sticking shut AND that needle valve AND seat are shiny clean; just a little crud/corrosion can stick them shut/nearly shut; and (2) take plugs out, take gas line loose at carb and have someone whiz engine over while you watch to see how much gas (if any) pumped out (be sure to have something to catch gas in if pump good).
