I believe the reason in this case is that the LED's do not draw enough current for the flasher to work properly. 2 solutions: 1. purchase a flasher designed for LED's, 2. what I did on my own truck is put a sealed box that has two 196 bulbs wired in parrallel to the LED lites. this gives the circuit enough current to operate the flasher. In my case I had also used LED's on the front. This little box works well. Contact me if more explanation is required.
