The reason I did what I did is because I didn't know about the compatible flashers until I had already done the wiring. I also put two 196 bulbs in parrallel with each side, when one burns out the rate of the flash will be slower than normal. Kind of a warning. Also, the regular flashers are resdily available if one is required during a trip, any junk yard or parts store will have one. A resistor would work perfect also, I just used what I had on hand.
