Duplex trucks've been around awhile (1907-1985 or so). See if your local library has a copy of Albert Mroz: Illus History of American Trks and Commercial Cars, or GN Georgano's larger (worldwide) truck history for a nice writeup. Basically, competition from the big companies forced them into niche markets after WWII: heavy const, specialty fields, finally specialising in fire control eqpmt, including airport fire trucks etc. When owned by Gradall (Warner & Swasey) some were reportedly (Mroz) badged Gradall. Haven't run across a club, but wouldn't be surprised if Googling brought up some group or owners association.
