Done 3 or 4 of them. Leave those springs alone. That is a lot of work and got to get them perfect or it will track crooked. Cut out how ever much of the frame you want ot loose somewhere between the back of cab and front spring hanger. Make sure you take out exact length on both sides and try to leave the cross supports. You will need jack stands to support cab/frame portion and also for the back section especially if there is a bed on the unit. Once you have the sections cut out, prep the edges by gringing a bevel on both inner and outer edge of frame, both sides. Butt up, square up, use straight edge to assure frame is straight on top both sides. Weld the bevel joint shut. Next, fish plate over the joint inside and out both sides. The most expensive part comes next! You have to shorten the driveshaft by the amount that you took out of frame. That is best done by the pros at the driveline shop. May have to construct a bracket, etc for the carrier bearing. Don't worry about the frame breaking out. I've seen and done a couple dozen of these over the years and never once did one break.
