The 429 is a differant block all together it comes from the 429-460 and even the 370. The old FE block ford engines were a good line and you could do alot with them . The 330 was in my opion a littel lite on power and the 360 was not much better but if ya did a littel work on a 390 now ya got something and if you could find a 67-69 360 and pull the crank out of it and put a 390 crank in it you would have a 390 GT engine with some decent power , they had the better con. rods and better heads add a cam out of a 428 SCJ a dual point out of a 427 and you got 375 HP.
