Joe(TX) That is why you fishplate or double frame if carrying a load or installing a hoist. The only frames you do not weld on is an aluminium frame. If done right it is stronger than original. The fishplate or double frame is bolted together to carry the load over the length of the frame not just the area around the weld. I have taken a 2 axle road tractor and built a 5 axle truck with a 102"x 28' bed with hoist adding 13' of frame and pulled a homebuilt 102"x26' 5 axle trailer with hoist and hauled 105,000 lbs and never had a problem. Built in 1985 and still on the road as a farm truck....James
