chevy 6 fuel pump question

Posted by Jerry S on March 05, 2002 at 14:52:53 from (63.71.59.98):

My son has a 50 chevy truck with a newer motor I suspect it is a 55-62 motor. I need to know if a fuel pump from a 63, a 51, or a 68 6 cylinder would fit it to get it running for now? I will buy one later but want to find out how much work I have to do to the motor first. Can't check compression as well unless I get it to run first. I also am interested in anyone who could tell me how to match serial or casting number of the block to tell me what year the motor is. Thanks for your help.
