Hi All,
I have a 46 Chevy PU that is perfect........except it still has the old drive train, i.e. 4 sp unsyncro transmission, enclosed torque tube drive shaft and low gear ratio rear end. After installing 15" wheels and radials, I am lucky to get 50 mph out of the truck, not to mention the annoyance of the unsyncroed tranny. I would like to replace all this non-sense, but would still like to keep the truck operating as original as possible (straight stick) and here's the kicker, I need to do it cheep or I'll be living and sleeping in the truck. Has anyone out there done a replacement like this on the original 216 engine and what components make the best fit? Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it............Joe
