78 chevy 5 speed converson

Anyone know if a 5 speed out of a early 90's 1/2 ton chevy will hold up to a 78 chevy 1 ton 454.It looks like a easy swap but I've heard those 5 speeds were weak.My 78 is 454 4 speed with 4:11 rear and we pull around 15,000 with it.
