OT Chevy Astro Van/ longPosted by Pitch on September 01, 2002 at 16:01:59 from (208.31.46.182):
I know that this is not a classic truck question but I see that there is a lot of mechanical knowledge on this board. I have a '98 chevy all wheel drive Astro van I blew a front tire so the wife went and got two new ones today at one of those warehouse chainstores. They mounted two 215/75/r15 on the front which is the proper size problem being is that they did not look at what they took off which was 215/70/r15. Anyway when she pulled into the driveway after a forty mile drive the thing stunk like heck and lube had blown out of the front diffrential and or transfer case, and the you could fry eggs on the rear pumpkin it was so hot. Question one did she do permanent damage? I called them and they said to bring it back I do not want to drive it another 40 miles like this. How do I get them to pay for a roll back to haul it in and if damage was done how do I get them to pay for repairs?
