2000 Chevrolet Blazer Overhead Compass

Moms truck has a overhead console with temperature and compass reading. The compass used to work but now says "cal". The book says to do circles under 5 mph 3 times. That was done 5 times each and nothing happened. Does anyone know what/how to fix?? Also the cruise control doesnt work either. Any way to avoid the dealer for this???
