1988 Chevy 1 ton

Hey ya'll, I just bought a 88 chevy 1 ton with a 454. Right now it has the throttle body fuel injection, but it doesn't appear to be working. so I was wondering, If it's possible to put a carburetor on these engines and do away with the throttle body? or would that mess with the computer?? thanks, TractorMike
