I've got a 36 1 1/12 ton (used to be a grain truck my grandpa bought new) and on mine the rear axle sits in two blocks. On the outside it makes a square, and these hard bolt to the springs, inside they make a circle that the axle rides in(allowing the axle to turn as it goes up), the wishbone as well as axle castings prevent sideways movement. Mine is only the one speed banjo rear end though I've found a website on the internet the other day that has the instalation instructions for a eaton splitter, and on that one it looked like it just replaced the banjo and the passenger side axle, though it could be a different set up than you have.
