The Mustang II did not have a full frame under it. What you're referring to probably is the common practice of adapting the Mustang II front suspension onto existing frames.

As for the Model A question, I suspect most vehicles newer than 1940 or so will be too wide to fit under the cab. You COULD narrow a later model frame, but it'd be much less trouble to either find the right size frame or even build your own.
