Electrical problems

I recently re wired my 1977 dodge d100 with a painless wiring harness. When I first pu the harness in I followed the schematic that was provided with the kit. When I updated my ignition system I went with a 4 prong ballast resistor so I rewired the ignition for that ballast, as soon as I did that I began to loose all charging capabilities. Is there any one who knows why this is? Any suggestions on how to fix that problem?
