49 chevy Truck donar frame

I just purchased a 1949 1/2 ton Chevy truck. I am not capable of the cut and modify job. I heard a 1994 S-10 regular cab longbox works really well. Wheelbase is right on etc. Anyone out there who has done this and would help coach me a bit? I at this time feel if I get the donar S-10 it also must be a 4.3 L V-6 so if I do feel like I can do it later a small 8 will go in . Are there any other total swaps that would work?
