I called Sonny at Bulit Cams and told him my max lift my valve springs could handle, what kind of performance we wanted and approximate compression level we had.We built a M block 400 engine for our 1979 F250 and with his cam we have 498 exaust and 498 intake lift.He called it a 262.It will chop a little at idle but still has good vaccume for the brakes and temperature controls. This truck will roast the rear tires and walk away from my 1986 F250 with a 351 Windsor in it no problem. His cam was reasonably priced and works well in our Ford.I am going to get him to grind me another for the 351.He did tell me that the cam he ground for the 400 was quite a bit different than an RV cam.Hope this helps.I like them old Fords.
