Allen it sounds like you may be sucking air some where. Maybe at the base? New gasket there? --Take a propane torch, turn the gas on, (Don't lite it), and focus that gas around over the base as well as other parts of the carb, and other places around the engine where there could be a vacuum leak. If you hit a leak the engine will speed up.
