I remember back in the early to mid 70's our neighbor drove a tandem axle dump truck hauling gravel. I remember hearing that he was avoiding getting a diesel powered one and air brakes. What reasons would he have had to avoid the diesel besides the purchase price? What diesels were available in the chevies of that era? I think probably he didn't want to learn the new things about the air brakes.
