International 1724 opinions?

I'm looking at an auction truck for sale. 1979 International 1724 Dump truck. Juice brakes guessing around 24k gvw. This unit is gas, 4 speed with a 2 speed rear. Now for the questions;
How reliable is the gas engine and what size{345)? What are the weak spots and is there a place on the internet to find specifications? Also, since my town registers based on original list price how much did a 6 wheeler cost in 79?
What does the model 1724 designate? Thanks for any and all help.
Keith
