Old Chevy Tire Swap

I have a 52 Chevy pickup with original style wheels and tires with tubes. I was thinking of swapping for later style rims with tubless tires. From what I've heard, radial tires don't work well with the old suspensions. Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?
