Semi Truck TiresPosted by Jeremy Worm on November 07, 2007 at 04:30:44 from (141.219.26.254): Hello, does anybody know how the outside diameter of non-metric semi truck tires are specified? For metric tires, the diameter is very easily calculated with the width, aspect ratio, and rim size, however, for non-metric tires (i.e. 11R22.5), I see no way to estimate the tire diameter. The reason I ask is I am in the beginning stages of restoring a 1966 IHC CO4000 that has been sitting in one spot since 1985. The truck is equiped with 10.00 X 20 tires now, but they are all in very rough shape, so before I move the truck too much I need to get at least halfway reliable tires. At this point I don't care if any two are the same tread pattern, or even the same width, I just want to make sure they are all the same diameter. I have found that an 11R22.5 has essentially the same OD as the 10R20's that are on the truck now and the 22.5 Dayton rim is interchangable with the 20 dayton rim, but in my search for cheap used tires I have also come across 10R22.5's, and a couple 9R20's. Granted, these are all different widths and rim sizes, but if the OD is all the same, they will work for what I need to do with them right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy
