96 cavalier 3 wire crank sensor to a 97 2 wire cra

Ok I changed out a motor on my 96 cavalier 2.2L with a 97 2.2L everything hooks up except the crank sensor my harness has 3 wire plug and the 97 has a 2 wire plug so I'm asking can I Cut and Splice the wires and if so what would go to what or can i change the computer to the 97 and will that work? Thanks for any Info, London

PS I tryed to change the Crank sensor from the 96 but its a hair to big for the hole in the block.
