dump truck runs terrible backfires out the exhaust

I have a 1982 chevrolet c-70 truck with a 360 truck engine. I am having a alot of drivability problems, the old truck just does not want to go! I have tried a couple different carbs, it idles fine just dosnt want to take any gas. Gets better once warmed up, as you give it gas it stumbles alot and backfires out the exhaust constantly. dont know if the carb is to lean for the situation or not, timing is set at 6 dec before. Any help would be great.
