Some years ago , I ran across a similar problem with a 366 in a C-60 dump...I found that when the last person that changed the distributor cap he left the one terminal out that was supposed to be transferred to the new cap..This terminal is just a "squiggly" piece of tin that completes the electrical connections under the cap..I also heard a slight electrical snapping noise from there because of the part missing...
