I think it was a hold over from EARLY electrical theory that thought that current flowed from positive to negative. Current really flows from negative to positive. Either system works and I do not know why Peterbilt still uses positive ground. Negative ground became more popular I think because MOST of you solidstate electronic use NPN transistor which mandate negative ground.
