ford f880 or f800

went & looked at a ford grain truck..1974 I think..477 gasser? air brakes hold good pressure, with power divider tandem axle, shabby grain box with holes and twin cylinder hoist that works, ok rubber. exterior cab decent, hasn't been on road in 4-5 years.. guy wanted $1500 I offered 9 being it was in sad shape, 1200 was all he'd go. Is it worth it...truck is 50 miles from my place & I don't really want to deal with a brake down on the way home...Should I go back for it...
