The filter could be an aftermarket unit. Dry filter were invented by Kiefofer (SP) of Mercury outboard fame when he was NASCAR racing in the middle to late 50's. Dry cleaners did not start being used until about 1960. Some farm equipment did not start using dry until the late 60's or early 70's.
