I bet your oxygen sensor has gone away. They usually don't cost much to replace. Another thought is that maybe your computer will have to relearn how to run right, which it should over a few days.

J.C. Whitney used to sell "catalytic converter test pipes" that eliminated the converter. If you are finding a lot of chalky stuff in your muffler, your converter is probably bad. I would see how well water pours through it. If the water from a garden hose is restricted, your converter is probably too plugged to give good performance. It is possible, but not easy to break up the ceramic inside the converter with large screwdrivers or prybars and dump out the ceramic. This will allow the exhaust to go through the converter case easily. This is not legal to do, and if you have emission inspection, your truck will not pass the sniffer test. But if you do not have inspection, it does work. Obviously, to be legal and PC, you should get a new catalytic converter.

You probably will need to replace the muffler. I have tried to unplug a couple without success.
