Ford 351M - inherent problems and solutions?

[ View Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Return to Forum ]

Posted by Steven@nd on October 07, 2002 at 10:46:39 from (165.234.131.150):

Have a 77 Ford F-150 4x4 my Dad bought new off the showroom floor. Came with 400 engine, blew that up at 65k miles, put in rebuilt 400, blew that up at 140k miles, now has a 351M from a junkyard pickup. Needs to be rebuilt since the oil pressure is really really low - like around zero at idle when it is warmed up.

Is there any inherent problems with the 351M? Any solutions to fix the problems? Would finding a 400 and rebuilding be a better idea?

Thanks for the help.

Steven
